Statement on Medicare
Our primary objective in chiropractic is to provide care that supports and maintains your overall well-being. We firmly believe that health encompasses more than just the absence of pain. It involves enjoying a better quality of life and achieving a harmonious balance between your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This perspective aligns with the World Health Organization’s definition of health, which states, “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Regrettably, Medicare holds a different view. According to section 2251.3 of the Medicare Carrier’s Manual, chiropractic maintenance therapy is deemed medically unreasonable and unnecessary, and therefore not covered under the Medicare program. This section specifically excludes services that aim to prevent disease, promote health, prolong and enhance the quality of life, or maintain or prevent the deterioration of chronic conditions. Ongoing maintenance therapy is not considered a covered service under Medicare.
Despite Medicare’s stance, our commitment to your health remains unwavering. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality chiropractic maintenance and wellness care to support your health and enhance your overall well-being. Please do not let Medicare’s policy discourage you from seeking the care you require. If you are on a fixed income, we have options available to accommodate your budget. We are committed to assisting you in any way we can.
As a requirement for all Medicare recipients, an Advanced Beneficiary Notice must be signed before receiving care in our office.
Please note that we are unable to complete Medicare forms for services provided in our office. In such cases, we recommend consulting Dr. Brett Rohlfsen in West Des Moines, Iowa. You can reach Dr. Rohlfsen at 515 222 1689.
What is Advance NeuroPhysiological Integration?
What is this advanced neurophysiological integration technique?
AKA: “A.N.I” or “Spinal Tuning”
ANI is a new way of looking at the whole mind-body connection and utilizing that connection to benefit you, the individual. Please keep in mind this technique is not a chiropractic technique at all, but a natural way to enhance your chiropractic experience. You don't even need to be under chiropractic care to experience the benefits of it, although it greatly helps.
This is a completely non-invasive, physical, low-force-producing technique. It works by mechanically stimulating the sensory portion of your nervous system to, in turn, help you more effectively deal with different physical, chemical, and even emotional stress the body is having trouble dealing with. While stimulating the sensory portion of your nervous system after a standard chiropractic adjustment, your brain simply analyzes more clearly the incoming sensory signals and then starts to develop a strategy on how to resolve the stress it perceives within the body. Given some time, the brain will start to act upon that strategy and then will start to send the appropriate signals back to the body through the spinal cord to correct and resolve what it perceives as the offending aberrant signals from inappropriate levels of stress.
After an ANI or "tuning session," many people report a sense of deep relaxation or euphoria and a desire to, "take on the day!". Other reports include a sense of increased mental acuity, an increased ability to manage levels of stress in their lives. As one patient puts it...."My first experience with Spinal Tuning, I honestly felt nothing. Over time, however, I found my body responding differently according to my level of stress or injuries. I have found that spinal Tuning has helped a great deal with stress that I seem to "hide" throughout my muscular structure. I feel more balanced, and there is a better connection between my mind and body." -Hannah
For those of you who are musically inclined, this will make sense to you. Neurophysiology has determined that your nervous system vibrates or pulsates at individualized cycles per second, which translates into, for lack of a better term, pitch or tone. For example, studies have shown that the vagus nerve has been measured at approximately 5 cycles per second. Let's pretend that for your individual body, perfect health and neurological communication resonates at a “perfect pitch of E”. How would you be functioning if somehow your body was operating at a tone of “A sharp”? Not well? Yes, that is the theory, so the purpose of Advanced Neurophysiological Integration is to get you as close to the pitch of “Perfect E” as possible using the simple feedback mechanisms within the brain and nervous system.
The theory revolves around your body's own natural ability to resolve stress. Many people live with increased levels of stress in their lives to the point of resorting to dangerous medications, emotional breakdowns, or breakdowns in relating to others in personal relationships. These are the high prices people pay for not being able to manage stress naturally within their lives. Managing stress is very important according to many health authorities. According to a recent article in WebMD, stress has been associated with the following:
The Effects Of Stress:
-Forty-three percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress
-Seventy-five to 90% of all doctor's office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.
-Stress can play a part in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, or arthritis in addition to depression and anxiety.
-The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) declared stress a hazard of the workplace. Stress costs the American industry more than $300 billion annually.
-The lifetime prevalence of an emotional disorder is more than 50%, often due to chronic, untreated stress reactions.
